To promote sustainability practices in Schools throughout Rutland County. A base line survey and action plan set the way to see the Sustainable Schools Framework laid out in Rutland.

The Partnership

This Opportunity was managed and hosted by CHANGE AGENTS in partnership with Rutland County Council.

The Results

The action plan lead to marked sustainability improvements over the school year.  The change agent for this Opportunity established a steering group  to share best practice and learning. The Sustainable Schools framework was laid out for Rutland and in 2009 the county sat in the top 10 local authorities in the country for sign up to the Eco Schools framework, in 2011 it sits in the top 20 in the country for Green Flag Awards. The project culminated in a celebratory event bringing together all of the local schools to showcase their progress towards sustainability including a fashion show, local food initiatives, recycling projects and environmental education projects.
