The Brief

LowC’s core mission is to “make low carbon communities happen”. This is achieved through consultancy, technology supply, turnkey installation, and operation of renewable energy and low carbon technology on behalf of clients.

LowC currently employs 10 people and is in a phase of rapid expansion which has provided an opportunity for three change agents across the Consulting and Technologies departments within the company.

The Partnership

LowC established the partnership with CHANGE AGENTS at the right time; as a rapidly growing small business LowC found their change agents, Nick, Andy and Nick perfectly suited to them. They have been of great benefit in getting the company to where it is today and the on-going support from CHANGE AGENTS, including through training workshops, has been invaluable in their personal and professional development.

The opportunity has included consulting responsibilities, renewable energy feasibility studies, low carbon building design and detailed sizing, specification and implementation of low carbon technologies at a variety of  commercial sites. This has resulted in a varied and challenging, learning and development opportunity.

The Results

  • The first school in the UK with 70% renewables via combined heat and power fuelled by UK pure plant oil.
  • LowC’s design and supply of renewable energy equipment for the Co-operative group’s flagship new head office building in Manchester – tipped to be one of the first buildings in the UK built to BREEAM Outstanding rating.
  • All three change agents continue to work at LowC and are active promoting the organisation every day in their local community activities.
