The Brief
To find a suitable candidate to act as the lead on the environment for Worcestershire NHS Partnership and Primary Care Trust, including effectively promoting, implementing and communicating sustainable behaviours and initiatives. The Opportunity has an extremely broad remit and covers carbon, energy, waste and transport management, while also ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
The Partnership
Through our partnership the change agent, David Dowson investigated ways to reduce the trusts environmental impact through property, procurement, transport and energy reduction initiatives.
The Results
Worcestershire Mental Health NHS has…
- Saved £84,000 and 660,000kg in CO2e reductions (8%) across 49 trust properties
- Produced a Green Travel Plan for the trust
- Secured a 100% green energy tariff
- Reduce carbon footprint by 7.54%
- Increase the recycling rate to approximately 30%
- Staged two ‘Switch It Off’ weeks that saved 15.5 tonnes of CO2e emissions and £3,507
This Opportunity was so effective that it became a permanent role and is now in its 3rd successful year with a change agent.
