Green Impact in Higher Education Institutions:

The National Union of Students’ Green Impact programme is a national environmental accreditation and behaviour change initiative, currently being run in 46 higher and further education institutions across the UK. Change Agents UK is in partnership with the National Union of Students (NUS) to deliver this unique and increasingly popular scheme, bringing staff and students together to drive positive change to reduce their environmental impact.

Green Impact empowers sustainability champions within their workplace, helping them gain recognition for their environmental efforts, whilst appealing to the competitive spirit of staff working within Green Impact teams. In 2010/11 the scheme was delivered in 600 departments, reaching over 36,000 staff across the UK.

Green Impact in the Community:

Green Impact’s success in universities and colleges has led to its expansion into other public institutions. Since delivering successful pilots in Manchester City Council and University Hospital Bristol NHS, a new Green Impact in the Community package has been developed to suit the needs and challenges of local authorities and health care institutions. Councils and NHS trusts can learn more about getting involved with Green Impact in the Community by visiting the Green Impact website.
