It was a very exciting opportunity that Molly took up at Salix Finance Ltd; a not for profit organisation that provides funding for energy efficiency projects in the public sector. Working in the Recycling Fund Team as a key contact for over eighty public sector clients, Molly supported clients on a range of fund management issues: such as committing & commissioning projects; arranging regional meetings; and end of year financial reporting. She worked with and helped to ensure that clients committed and delivered to agreed standards and targets. This required Molly to be an effective communicator; not only responsive and helpful but also assertive and influential. With a good technical background and able to learn quickly, Molly performed efficiently in all of these aspects. She was appreciated and referred by clients as “great support” and “going the extra mile”. As part of the team, she helped Salix exceed targets for client project commissioning and supported the reduction of outstanding issues by year end.
Furthermore, she assisted the Technical Team in various aspects and undertook administration work such as arranging meetings and managing databases to enable the smooth running of business. Due to a variable workload that this post entails, Molly secured assistance from CHANGE AGENTS and advanced her time management skills with a professional development award from City & Guilds. She not only met deadlines for regular work but also managed to accommodate extra work at short notice.
This experience at Salix Finance has given Molly a wide range of skills and knowledge that are excellent in helping her to pursue a career in sustainability in various contexts.
