Saving residents money on their energy bills doesn't just have to be about bricks and mortar (although getting those bits up to standard helps!); learning how to use heating controls and demonstrating which appliances are electricity "hungry", whilst ensuring that households are being billed correctly and on the right tariff for their needs all adds up into an impressive package of savings.
CAUK have worked with many housing associations including Rockingham Forest Housing Association, East Midlands Homes, to help their residents to avoid fuel poverty through advice, education and intervention.
Working in partnership with Spire Homes over few past years, Change Agents have delivered average savings in the region of £236 per property. Not only are visited residents better off, they are also more comfortable in their homes and more likely to use their heating (through knowledge of the best way of heating their property). In addition, we have provided training for front line staff, and helped administer grants provided through Rutland County Council such as fuel debt reduction payments.
Change Agents have also worked in partnership with Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) and Luminus Group to deliver an energy saving project to residents across Huntingdonshire. David, the project officer, has personally conducted over 400 household visits and trained Luminus staff to become energy champions. To find out more please see the Luminus case study.
