Along with its heritage partners, Northamptonshire County Council has recently launched an exciting new website aimed at showcasing Northamptonshire’s history and promoting local heritage.
Northamptonshire Heritage is divided into three sections. The learn section is aimed at people interested in learning about local history. It presents information and articles on a variety of historical topics, from Magna Carta to country houses to the lacemaking trade. The visit section is aimed at tourists and local people looking for things to do. Its main feature is an interactive map of heritage sites, along with recommended places to visit and a range of trails. The expert advice section is aimed at a more specialised audience and includes industry guidelines and a list of heritage services offered by the county.
Northamptonshire Heritage launched on 9 November 2016 and attracted almost 5000 page views in its first three weeks. New content is being added continuously. In December, a digital advent calendar offered visitors a new fun fact about Northamptonshire’s history each day.
